Chemistry and Physics

Chemistry LabThrough its Chemistry & Physics Department, SUNY Old Westbury takes a broad approach to education in the sciences, stressing the connections between chemistry, biology and physics and their application in the worlds of research, medicine and industry.

Also central to the experience of undergraduate students in the College’s science programs is the opportunity to participate first-hand in cutting edge research — an opportunity limited to graduate students on most other American campuses.

The Chemistry/Physics Department offers the following degree programs:

The Chemistry & Physics Department also collaborates with the School of Education on the following graduate degree programs:

American Chemical Society Certification

For those who wish to continue their education on the graduate level, an optional program based on recommendations of the American Chemical Society’s Committee on Professional Training has been designed as an integral extension of the B.S. in Chemistry. This optional curriculum has received full certification from the American Chemical Society. Students who complete the ACS approved program will be awarded an ACS certified B.S. degree in chemistry.
