How do you get out of the slump?
- Talk about it to faculty, staff, and your peers.
- Investigate your personality type with the MBTI at the Academic Advising Center.
- Investigate your Strong Interest Inventory at Career Planning and Development.
- Take the Learning and Studies Strategies Inventory at the Academic Advising Center.
- Follow the Sophomore Jump Checklist.
- Feeling that you are in more than a "slump", visit the Counseling and Wellness Center.
Sophomore Jump Checklist: Things To Do
- Deepen your knowledge of your major and department.
- Meet with your academic advisor at least once per semester.
- Get to know a faculty member.
- Keep in touch with friends from last semester.
- Consider a mentorship. Apply for the Faculty-Sophomore Mentor program!
- Become an active member of a student club/organization.
- Explore study abroad programs.
- Connect with Career Planning & Development and have your resume reviewed.
- Get involved in undergraduate research.
- Participate in Sophomore Shadow for career exploration and to connect with working professionals to build your network and have career conversations!
- Start looking for internships or field related work opportunities.
- Consider adding a minor.
- Prepare to take on new initiates and leadership roles.
- Celebrate your success!
