Admissions & Enrollment

Baccalaureate Degrees and Credit Courses

Students who are not yet enrolled at SUNY Old Westbury who want to major in the School of Professional Study’s B.P.S. in Professional Studies or B.S. in General Studies should apply to the campus through its normal enrollment process.  Once admitted to our University, they will gain admission to the School of Professional Studies when they declare one of these degree programs as their major.

Students who are already matriculated at Old Westbury who want to major in the School of Professional Study’s B.P.S. in Professional Studies or B.S. in General Studies can gain admission to the School of Professional Studies by declaring one of these degree programs as their major.

Students who do not want to enroll in a degree program at Old Westbury can take credit courses offered by the School of Professional Studies up to the University's limit of 32 credits for non-matriculated students by following the procedures for Non-Degree Admission in the Non-Degree Programs section under the Admissions tab on this website.  Further information is available in the Admissions Information section of the Undergraduate Catalog.

Students who are enrolled in other degree programs at Old Westbury can enroll in credit courses offered by the School of Professional Studies as part of their regular course load.

Noncredit Professional Development Courses

Enrollment in the courses offered by the Center for Legal Studies (CLS) is conducted directly with the CLS, which can be contacted at 1-800-522-7737 or via the Center for Legal Studies website.

Enrollment in CLS courses is entirely separate from enrollment at Old Westbury.  Students must apply directly to the CLS for admission.  Matriculated students cannot take courses from the CLS as part of their Old Westbury course load, CLS courses confer no credits toward graduation or other requirements, and do not appear on College transcripts.  Students pay tuition for CLS courses directly to the CLS, and cannot use their regular financial aid for them (information on separately available financial aid is available at the CLS website).
