Alpha Theta Xi is the OW chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honors association for teacher education candidates. The organization is dedicated to fostering excellence in education and promoting fellowship among those educators.

Eligibility
Eligibility Requirements
To be a member, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
Undergraduates
A cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
At least 6 semester hours of Education courses, in progress, or completed.
Graduate Students
Accepted into the graduate program and pursuing coursework in education.
Teachers who are in-service professionals shall submit proof of an undergraduate degree via an unofficial transcript. If the teacher is licensed and teaching and has a baccalaureate degree, there is no GPA requirement—only proof of a degree, the teacher’s current position title, and school name and district where they are teaching.

All candidates submit an unofficial transcript or copy of a KDP-written invitation during application (applicants will be prompted to upload this information).
Candidates should support KDP’s mission, vision, and values.

The Old Westbury Student CEC Chapter is a welcoming community for future special educators and inclusive education advocates. The Teacher Education Club provides students with activities, events, and volunteer
opportunities related to the field of education to continue students’ professional growth.
TEC objectives include:
● Hosting seminars from guest speakers in the field of education.
● Providing workshops regarding career preparation, such as resume building,
networking, and interviewing workshops.
● Offering volunteer opportunities with local communities and schools, such as book drives.
● Arranging field trips to foster understanding of curriculum and inspire lesson ideas.
● Having monthly meetings to encourage networking and collaboration with fellow students
pursuing a career in Education.
