Part 1 and Part 2 of the Summer 2021 Orientation Program are required. Part 3 is optional, but recommended.
Summer 2021 Transfer Orientation
Part 1: Virtual, half-day orientation program
Emails are sent out weekly, to newly accepted transfer students with registration instructions. We use the email you put on your admissions application. Since orientation is connected to advising and registration, each week, these emails are updated to reflect how many spots we have left for each department! Send us back your form as soon as you can, to ensure a seat in an early session!

Part 2: Virtual Advisement (approximately 30-45 mins.)
Advisement corresponds with the session you select and will be provided ahead of the session. Advisement is based upon appointment availability set by faculty within each department. Instructions for advisement are sent in orientation confirmation emails. Please note that students who fail to miss their orientation session without contacting the department to reschedule within 24-hours of their assigned session, will be de-registered from their courses.
- Advising timeline for June sessions: May 17-June 22
- Advising timeline for July sessions: June 24-July 20
- Advising timeline for August sessions: July 22-August 13
Once a student has been confirmed for an orientation session, specific advisement instructions are included in the confirmation. Depending upon your major, you will either be waiting for a second email from advising with further instructions OR will be directed to reach out on your own to a specific advisor. Please note that ALL TRANSFERS MUST PAY THEIR TUITION DEPOSIT IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ADVISEMENT!
Part 3: Optional in-person, half-day supplemental orientation.
In accordance with NYS Department of Health and CDC guidelines, we will be offering in-person orientation sessions, which will address additional content not covered during virtual orientation. During this session, students will have the opportunity to visit our campus, meet with faculty, staff and their peers, while adhering to all safety guidelines set forth by federal, state and local entities. Due to capacity limitations, these sessions will be on a first-come-first-served basis and we will be unable to accommodate walk-ins on the day of orientation.
While attendance at the in-person session is not required, we strongly encourage you to register so that you are optimally prepared to start the fall 2021 semester at SUNY Old Westbury!
