EOP at SUNY Old Westbury helps first-generation and low-income New York students achieve their college goals through access, support, and opportunity.

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at SUNY Old Westbury helps motivated, first-generation, and low-income students access and succeed in college. This state-funded program supports New York State residents who have the drive to excel but may have faced economic or educational barriers in the past. We see you and we're here to help you succeed!

Our Key Support Services

  • First-Year Summer Academy
  • Student Support (includes tutoring, study skills & peer mentoring)

Academic and Financial Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a New York resident for 12 months prior to enrollment
  • Be slightly below the SUNY Old Westbury standard admission selection criteria, but demonstrate strong potential for excellence in college
  • Meet the EOP income Eligibility Guidelines (determined by New York State)
  • Earned a high school diploma or a GED in New York State
  • Plan to be enrolled as a full-time student, taking at least 12 credits per semester.
  • Transfer students previously enrolled in EOP or a similar NYS program are eligible for admission.
