Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides and maintains authoritative campus data. Data analysis and reporting from the office are provided to the University, SUNY System Administration, numerous external government agencies (IPEDS and NYSED included), as well as to external publications (Peterson's, U.S. News & World Report, etc.).

Institutional Dashboards

The SUNY Old Westbury dashboards are intended to provide convenient and concise source of institutional information. The dashboards are intended to answer frequently requested inquiries. Dashboards include information about Applicants, Enrollment, Grade Distributions, and Outcomes (Retention/Graduation).

State University of New York (SUNY) Data and Document Resources

As a part of the SUNY system, SUNY Old Westbury provides data to the SUNY Office of Institutional Research & Data Analytics who is responsible for maintaining the University’s information systems that include student, term section, course, degree, and financial aid data in addition to the administration and analysis of the University's campus surveys.

New York State Education Department (NYSED) Higher Education Data System (HEDS)
HEDS is a data collection managed by the Information and Reporting Services (IRS) within NYSED. IRS is responsible for collecting data from all degree granting institutions in New York State. Data collected for HEDS includes enrollment, retention, graduation, financial aid, and instructional activity.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)

IPEDS is a data collection within the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) - a division of the U.S. Department of Education. The IPEDS system collects institution-level data in areas such as student enrollment, degree completions, human resources, and finances. These data are typically used by researchers to analyze data on general institutional characteristics, student enrollment trends, institutional revenue and expenditure patterns, faculty salaries by academic rank and tenure status, and student degree completions by program.
