Associate, price waterhousecoopers

How did your education prepare you for what you are doing today?

My education has provided me with the skills necessary to perform analysis functions related to forensic accounting and fraud examination. It has also broadened my knowledge of internal controls and regulatory business practices that organizations should have in order to deter fraud. It’s interesting because I initially majored in general accounting, and although I do have a background and an understanding of what that comprises; I feel as though forensic accounting takes you to that next level. I also find the subject matter to be more interesting and exciting.

What is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?

My greatest professional accomplishment to date has been accepting a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as an Associate in their Risk & Regulatory Business Controls Practice. It directly aligns with the forensic accounting/fraud examination subject matter and I am excited to apply my knowledge and skillset to my everyday activities as a professional with the firm.

What programs do you support at SUNY Old Westbury and why?

I fully support the Justice for Fraud Victims Project at SUNY Old Westbury. That initiative has provided students with the opportunity to be exposed to problem based learning which gives you that hands on experience that a textbook generally wouldn’t. It’s also exciting to know that you’re making a difference with helping small businesses and victims of fraud by directly applying the knowledge you’ve acquired from coursework to real world scenarios.

Do you have advice for current students?

My advice would be to build relationships with the professors. They have years of experience with graduates and professionals who have gone on to be pioneers in their respective fields. These connections will provide students with opportunities to expand their own network and position themselves for success in their prospective careers.

What is your favorite memory and/or spot on campus?

Unfortunately, due to the timing of my enrollment, the pandemic did not allow me to engage with any campus activities or interactions. In fact, I’ve only visited the campus four times during my time at SUNY Old Westbury. However, I am looking forward to attending graduation this spring. I am confident that that will certainly be my favorite memory going forward!
