Results of 2025 Program Objectives Survey 

Based on the stakeholder survey data (see table below) for the SUNY Old Westbury Graduate Mental Health Counseling (MHC) Program, a role-differentiated analysis of satisfaction with the program’s three core objectives—ethical practice, evidence-based counseling, and multicultural competence indicates strong alignment with the program's mission and effectiveness in achieving its stated goals.

Alumni Perspective

  • Objective 1 (Ethical and Effective Practice): All 5 (100%) alumni respondents indicated being Very Satisfied.
  • Objective 2 (Evidence-Based Counseling): 4 out of 5 (80%) were Very Satisfied; 1 was Somewhat Satisfied.
  • Objective 3 (Multicultural Competence): 4 (80%) Very Satisfied; 1 Somewhat Satisfied.

Current Students' Perspective

  • Objective 1: 13 of 14 (93%) Very Satisfied; 1 Somewhat Satisfied.
  • Objective 2: 13 Very Satisfied; 1 Neutral.
  • Objective 3: 13 Very Satisfied; 1 Somewhat Satisfied.

Interpretation: Current students show strong confidence in all areas. Minor variation in Objective 2 indicates potential for enhancement.

Site Supervisors' Perspective

  • Objective 1: 12 of 14 (86%) Very Satisfied; 2 Somewhat Satisfied.
  • Objective 2: 13 Very Satisfied; 1 Somewhat Satisfied.
  • Objective 3: 13 Very Satisfied; 1 Somewhat Satisfied.

Interpretation: Supervisors affirm students’ competence in real-world ethical, multicultural, and evidence-based practice.

Conclusion

Satisfaction levels across all stakeholder groups meet or exceed the 90% Very Satisfied benchmark. The program is successfully meeting its educational objectives:

  • Objective 1: Ethical training is robust and applicable.
  • Objective 2: Evidence-based methods are well integrated.
  • Objective 3: Cultural competence is deeply embedded.
