To the Campus Community,

Today is a great day in the history of SUNY Old Westbury. I am proud to announce the SUNY Old Westbury School of Business has earned accreditation from AACSB International, the most prestigious accrediting body for business schools in the world.

AACSB-accredited schools are considered to be the best business schools.  In fact, less than six percent of the world’s 13,000 schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB accreditation.

First and foremost, congratulations on this achievement to Acting Dean Shalei Simms and to the School of Business faculty and staff who worked so hard throughout the accreditation process. To earn this distinction, they had to prove that we align with a set of 15 business accreditation standards that focus on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty, and staff; learning and teaching; and the academic and professional engagement of students and faculty.

Congratulations also to all who work in every corner of campus to support the success our students achieve every day. The success of the School of Business cannot happen without you. This is a collective achievement.

Earning AACSB accreditation is all about our dedication to our students and our faculty’s commitment to excellence. AACSB sets the highest standards, so students and graduates of our School of Business now have more proof of what we’ve always known – that they receive a rigorous, relevant education that readies them for success in the careers and lives they want for themselves.

For our current and future students, AACSB accreditation gives you a competitive edge. AACSB-accredited institutions are recognized as being challenging and for teaching the best skills that give graduates a distinct advantage. And, many major companies report that they recruit exclusively at AACSB-accredited institutions for interns and employees.

You can continue your studies knowing that your professors and curriculum have been vetted and recognized as forward-thinking, innovative, and acutely focused on the challenges facing business today.

Once again, congratulations to all!
