Graduate Admissions Partnerships

Stony Brook University Public Health Partnership

The SUNY Old Westbury Public Health Department and the Stony Brook University Master's in Public Health program have a standing agreement to support the enrollment of Old Westbury graduates into the Stony Brook University graduate program.

Under this agreement, up to four SUNY Old Westbury Public Health graduates each year will receive guaranteed admission to the Stony Brook program, including a waiver for the application fee, if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Proof of the completion of their Old Westbury degree
  2. An earned 3.0 grade point average
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation

Students must provide this material and complete their application to Stony Brook's program through SOPHAS, a centralized application service used by Stony Brook University for its public health program.

With both campuses having public health curricula accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, graduates of Old Westbury’s Bachelor of Science in Health and Society are ideally positioned to pursue an MPH at SUNY Downstate.

Through this partnership, Old Westbury students who maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher will receive early consideration for admission and are not required to take the Graduate Record Exam prior to admission.
