Smart Scholars

Launched in fall 2010, Smart Scholars provides for credit-bearing college courses, most of which are being offered in Roosevelt High School in the 11th and 12th grades.

Because preparedness for college is something best developed over time, our program calls for support services that extend into the middle school and, in some cases, into the three elementary schools in the district.  Because preparedness for college is something best developed over time, our program calls for support services that extend into the middle school and, in some cases, into the three elementary schools in the district.

SUNY Old Westbury was one of only 12 inaugural recipients statewide of a grant through the "Smart Scholars Early College High School Program."  Funding of $476,242 was awarded to Old Westbury for this program by the University of the State of New York, which received support for the program from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
