SUNY Old Westbury has in 2025 for the third consecutive year been named a "Best College for Adults" by Abound, the online college guidance system for degree-seeking adults.
The University was listed among 174 institutions nationwide recognized for enabling non-traditional and adult learners to find efficient ways to attend school in person while giving the attention they need to their job and family. The Abound methodology measures such factors as accessibility for attending courses on evenings and weekends and online, affordability, acceleration toward a degree and persistence towards graduation, and advancement, measured through the institution’s commitment to the long-term success of its students.
“We’re honored to be recognized for creating meaningful pathways for adult learners to advance their education,” said President Timothy E. Sams. “Through a range of flexible programs -- offered in-person, online, and in hybrid formats -- we support individuals at every stage of their educational journey, whether they’re completing a degree they began earlier, starting fresh in a new direction, or pursuing one of our many microcredential options.”
