Accounting Major Recognized as Top Student in Region

Kahane earns award

SUNY Old Westbury accounting major Megan Kahane has been recognized by the Long Island chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) as one of the top accounting students in the region. At a reception held at Westbury Manor in April, Kahane was honored as one of only six students from area colleges by the organization.

Kahane, a resident of Bethpage, N.Y., holds a 3.98 GPA at the College, and will be graduating in May with an Accounting degree. She will be attending the University of North Carolina School of Law to pursue her dream of working in investigating "white collar crimes" for the Federal Bureau of Investigations or Internal Revenue Service.

In addition to excelling in the classroom, Kahane has worked for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates as a clerk for several years. During her time at Old Westbury, she served as president and public relations representative for the Accounting Society. She is a member of the Tau Sigma Transfer Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Kappa Student Leadership Honor Society
