Students 'Show and Tell' at Annual Research Day

Students Presenting Research at Research Day

Students got the opportunity to “Show and Tell” their work at SUNY Old Westbury’s annual Research Day on campus this week. Highlighting the event’s theme this year, students showcased their research and creativity through oral, poster, media and art presentations to the community, and heard from keynote speaker Chiqui Esteban, Graphics Director for The Washington Post.

Esteban demonstrated examples on how graphics and storytelling are a service to the general public, and how students and researchers can share important data and information in a way that is understandable to all.

“It was exhilarating watching Mr. Esteban explain how his method of storytelling helps amplify the news published in such world-renowned publications,” said Assistant Dean Betty Berbari, the event’s coordinator. “It captured what our students worked hard on preparing for Research Day – a ‘show and tell’ of their academic and artistic achievements.”

These presentations and works represent the effort of in-class assignments and out-of-class experiences conducted with faculty. More than 100 students participate in Student Research Day each year.  Research Day is sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education and the School of Business.
