A curious mind, outstanding work ethic and networking prowess all contributed to the selection of Jahnavi Gayle and Gillian Marcel as winners of the 2024 Purple Pump Award.

Presented by the Moxxie Mentoring Foundation, Inc., the Purple Pump Award is given to mentors and mentees who excel through the organization’s professional and personal development programs. The awards were presented during the organization's "Emerald Summit" luncheon, held on October 25, 2024 at The Heritage Club in Bethpage, New York.

Gayle, a Professional Studies major from Far Rockaway, New York, and Marcel, a Psychology major from Kerhonkson, New York, were among four students honored in the program.

Both students are taking part during the 2024-2025 academic year in the organization’s Jr. Moxxie program, an exclusive mentoring program that pairs seasoned businesswomen with college students and offers them personal and professional development opportunities through field trips, webinars and networking events.

During this year’s program, Gayle is being mentored by Esperanza Straughter, a branch manager for Citizens Bank. Marcel is the mentee of Jodi Kunz, a clinical psychologist and Board-certified school neuropsychologist working in private practice.

Jr. Moxxie stresses the importance of networking and building your personal brand as a career strategy.  It provides its mentees with a competitive edge for the entry into the business world.
