Panther Pride Homecoming

SUNY Old Westbury celebrated its 2023 Panther Pride Homecoming from Wednesday, September 27 to Saturday, September 30 with a series of events for the whole community.

Alumni gathered on Friday night to catch up with each other and the university during the Alumni Networking Reception at City Cellar in Westbury, N.Y.

Students, alumni, faculty and staff showed off their pride from the Kickoff ceremony all the way through the culminating events of the Salute to Hip-Hop Concert, and Coronation. More than 300 community members and alumni came home to attend Saturday's PantherFest, Tailgate and Concert.

The rain couldn't dampen the fun during Homecoming week as traditions such as the Royal Court, Cake-Off Decorating Contest, Stay Up at the Union, and Alumni Mentoring Night continued. New for 2023 included our first Tailgate, exclusive "Meet the President" presentation, and various food trucks on-campus.

Some celebrants went above and beyond in demonstrating their Panther Pride, including the winners of the various competitions:

  • Women's Soccer won the cake decorating competition
  • The CSTEP/STEP and Science building won the door decorating competition
  •  Donovan Johnson, Jillian Gallagher, Eva Farmer, Brookelynne Buttacavoli-Lalla, Samantha Fisher, Tashauni Rainford, Olivia Rodney, and Danielle Headley were named as the Homecoming Royalty

SUNY Old Westbury thanks everyone who was involved in organizing, hosting, and celebrating Panther Pride Homecoming, and looks forward to next year’s festivities.
