The SUNY Old Westbury Annual Fund
The Annual Fund enables students and faculty to experience and achieve more. Your gift is important each and every year. All gifts, regardless of size, play an important role in allowing SUNY Old Westbury to become the best institution it can be. Gifts to the Annual Fund are vital to ensuring innovation and excellence at the College. Each year, alumni, parents, and friends make contributions to the Annual Fund. Your support is important and appreciated. Because they are used for a variety of purposes, gifts to the Annual Fund can have an immediate impact on our capacity to provide a wealth of opportunities to our students as they seek to become critical thinkers, problem-solvers, visionaries, and leaders who will re-imagine and transform the world.
When gifts to the Annual Fund are made without restrictions on their use, they give the Foundation and the College the flexibility to allocate resources strategically, taking advantage of unexpected opportunities to fund new educational programs and strengthen existing ones. Gifts to the Annual Fund cover immediate needs that funding from other sources, including tuition revenue and endowment earnings, are not always sufficient to meet. These include:
- Student financial aid
- Guest speakers on campus
- Joint student-faculty research projects
- Community-outreach initiatives
- Study abroad
- Additions to the library’s print and electronic holdings
- Clubs and other extracurricular activities
- Campus musical and theatrical groups
- Varsity, intramural, and recreational sports
School of Arts and Sciences
The School of Arts and Sciences offers our version of what has been called for over 2,000 years a “liberal education,” meaning a broad education undertaken for informed citizenship. Every major in the School of Arts and Sciences promotes the following values: life-long learning; global citizenship; and social justice. Gifts made in support of the School of Arts and Sciences are used by the Dean of the School to support student and faculty programming, research, and other needs.
School of Business
The School of Business is committed to providing high quality business education to its students through its curriculum, its teaching, its academic support services, and its placement and internship program. The curriculum is continually updated to reflect the impact of information technology on the globalization of markets, production methods, and job qualifications. Gifts made in support of the School of Business are used by the Dean of the School to support student and faculty programming, research and other needs.
School of Education
The School of Education offers 28 academic programs offering bachelor's and master's degrees and meeting both initial and professional certification requirements of the State of New York. The Old Westbury degree programs provide professional courses and extensive field experience, including student teaching. All courses are designed so that students achieve competencies that have been identified by local school district personnel and prescribed by the New York State Education Department. Gifts made to the School of Education are used by the Dean of the School to support student and faculty programming, research and other needs.
