SP 26 Weather Notice and Move In Instructions

Good afternoon SUNY OW Residents,

Campus leaders are closely monitoring weather forecasts for this weekend that are showing a likelihood of significant snowfall for our area beginning Saturday evening and extending into Monday.  These weather conditions may impact:

  • Road access to and from campus
  • Public transportation schedules
  • Dining and campus operations

Given weather forecasts for this weekend showing a likelihood of significant snowfall for our area beginning Saturday evening and extending into Monday, the following changes to campus operations are being made: 

  • All classes will be offered remotely on both Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27. The Provost will be in touch with faculty members in a separate message to discuss arrangements.
  • Campus offices and services also will be conducted in a remote status on Monday and Tuesday. Staff members should make preparations in advance to ensure we can meet the needs of our students and community while in the remote status. It should be noted that, even with a remote status , employees performing essential services are expected to report.
  • Spring move-in for residential students has been moved to Tuesday, January 27 (no longer on Sunday) with no move-in options available until the halls open on Tuesday. The Office of Residential Life will be communicating with residential students regarding the timing of and processes for the new move-in date.
  • The campus shuttle will delay the start of its normal operating schedule until Tuesday, January 27. There will be no shuttle service this weekend or on Monday. On Tuesday, the shuttle will run on its Spring 2026 regular schedule.

All members of our campus community are asked to monitor their campus email accounts throughout the pending storm should updates be required.

Given current forecasted estimates, the following changes to campus operations are being made:

Spring move-in for residential students has been moved to: 

Tuesday, January 27, 2026

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Move in is NO LONGER on Sunday, with no early arrival options available. 

  • All classes will be offered remotely on both Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27.
  • Campus offices and services also will be conducted in a remote status on Monday and Tuesday.
  1. The residential halls will be CLOSED to incoming residents prior to Tuesday, 1/27/26 at 10:00 AM.
  2. Move in is scheduled between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Tuesday 1/27.
  3. As classes are in session remotely this day, please plan your check-in around your class schedule.
  4. There will be delays in your move-in process if you arrive after 4:00 PM on Tuesday.
  5. We encourage residents to pack light, with essentials for a few days, and bring remaining items over the next weekend if needed.
  6. All residents should plan to arrive through the campus's main gates ("A" gate).
  7. The campus shuttle will delay the start of its normal operating schedule until Tuesday, January 27. There will be no shuttle service this weekend or on Monday. On Tuesday, the shuttle will run on its Spring 2026 regular schedule.

  1. When you arrive on campus, please proceed to your designated residence hall's RA Office

  3. Parking will not be available at the Residence Halls. Please plan to park in the Campus Center or Academic Village parking lots.
