Open Lab for Research (4/3 - 4/14, 2023)

The first two weeks of April are designed as Open Lab for Research. Through this event, we aim to involve more undergraduates in scientific research. Faculty of Chemistry and Physics Department welcome our majors (Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics) to join a research group. The symbiotic interactions in research laboratories provide opportunities for undergraduates to identify their research interests, work on advanced instruments, solve real scientific problems, and receive close mentoring and support. If this sounds interesting to you, please do the following to get involved:

1. Know expectations for a research student.

• Do well academically.
• Commit at least half a day per week toward research projects.
• Be a team player!
• Maintain a positive working relationship with your mentor.

2. Find your research mentor.

• Explore individual Faculty's research areas as well as additional information at Chemistry Research and Physics Research. Contact the professors with whom you would like to work with.
• As an option, you can also fill a research application form, which will help us review your knowledge and interests and match you with faculty mentor(s). If you are majoring in chemistry or biochemistry, fill out the Form for Chemistry. For physics majors, use this Form for Physics.
• Talk to the faculty members to learn more about their research, and potentially join a research group!

3. Meet faculty in-person during Open Lab for Research, or contact them through email.
