Established in 2019, the Norman R. McConney, Jr. Awards for EOP Student Excellence is awarded by SUNY annually to students participating in SUNY's Educational Opportunities Program (EOP) for their academic achievements. The award is named in honor of the late Norman McConney (1946-2016) who had a long career dedicated to improving conditions for students facing economic challenges, having experienced systemic neglect, and/or have had a lack of access to basic resources. His legacy includes being an early champion and drafter of the legislation that created EOP in New York State.
NOTE: The McConney Award was not presented in 2021.
