Admissions Requirements

  • Applicants interested in graduate-level (masters and advanced certificate) programs in teaching and educational administration are no longer required to take the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) in New York State.
  1. B.A. or B.S. in Biology, including at least one course in each of the following biology areas:  cellular, organic, and population. A two-year sequence in chemistry is strongly recommended.  A cumulative and major undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4) or the equivalent.
  2. Two letters of recommendation, one from an academic source.
  3. An admissions essay.
  4. International students must meet additional criteria, including the following: TOEFL scores: paper exam = 550; computer exam= 213; Internet exam= 80.
