"Dr. Garrison is an environmental microbiologist broadly interested in how humans impact microbial systems. Using a combination of genomics and culture-based approaches, we can begin to understand and predict how microbes respond and adapt to changing environmental conditions such as climate change and pollution. Current projects include microbial adaptations toward plastic pollution in the ocean, and biological impacts from offshore wind turbine infrastructures
Originally from Virginia, Cody moved to Long Island to pursue a postdoc at Stony Brook University. Cody has since planted his roots and embraced Long Island as a natural laboratory for studying and teaching environmental science.
