Tau Sigma Honor Society Holds Fall Induction

Introductions of students to the Tau Sigma Honor Society

SUNY Old Westbury has added 29 students into the Old Westbury chapter of Tau Sigma National Honor Society, an academic honor society for high-achieving transfer students, at its Fall 2022 induction this week. With its new members, SUNY Old Westbury's chapter includes 272 students and graduates. 

“Being in Tau Sigma is a great resume booster for our transfer students, and once you're a member, you are for life” said Rebecca Rothe, Transfer Student Services Coordinator. “They receive a certificate, a pin, and the opportunity to purchase merchandise to wear at graduation.”

The requirements to join Tau Sigma include that students must be a transfer completing their first bachelor’s degree; have at least 30 or more credits accepted by SUNY Old Westbury; be enrolled in 12 or more credits in their first semester at Old Westbury or completion of full time credit over the course of their first two semesters; and have a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester at Old Westbury.

This event was part of National Transfer Student Week, with events taking place all week on campus.to show appreciation of SUNY Old Westbury transfer students.
