SUNY Old Westbury President Timothy Sams has agreed to serve as a member of the advisory transition team for Nassau County Executive–elect Bruce Blakeman, who will take office on January 1, 2022.

Dr. Sams will work alongside more than 50 other community leaders to offer insight and guidance on an array of issues such as economic development, community empowerment, emergency response, taxes and public safety.

“Ours is a College that serves students from across Nassau County,” said Sams of this appointment. “Just as we work on campus to support opportunities for growth and development for them, I will be working alongside these community leaders to voice my ideas about what must be done to support them as County residents. At the same time, I hope to seek out ways our College can better integrate with its community.”

Joining Dr. Sams on the transition team are academic leaders, faith practitioners, community leaders and policy advocates from the public and private sectors, including former New York Governor David Paterson, Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, as well as the presidents of Adelphi University, Hofstra University and Long Island University.
