Long Island Business News, a business news media outlet covering Nassau and Suffolk Counties since 1953, included SUNY Old Westbury President Timothy E. Sams in its 2022 Power List.

The list of what the publication calls “Long Island’s Most Powerful Influencers” is comprised of 60 leaders representing business and civic enterprises operating across Long Island, including bankers, politicians, lawyers, engineers, educators, attorneys and more.  To compile the list, Long Island Business News created an editorial panel to look at candidate’s career successes as well their contributions to the community, ability to persevere during challenging times, and “how their character, creativity and compassion inspired those around them.”

In presenting the list, the Long Island Business News team wrote: “The last two years have taught us  that power alone cannot defeat crises with the potential to impact the globe. Power got redefined. Those who came up with solutions to help keep the economy going and assisting those in crisis became the new power brokers.”
