Celebrating 50th Anniversary of Title IX

SUNY Old Westbury Director of Athletics Lenore Walsh was among collegiate athletic leaders from around the nation who took part recently in a series of panel  discussions celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the  landmark federal civil rights legislation that prohibits sex discrimination in education.

The virtual panel discussions took place on Tuesday, May 17,  in a program organized by Farmingdale State College.

The 1972 landmark Title IX legislation changed the landscape of sports and society for the benefit of millions of individuals, especially girls and women.  The panels featured whaet organizers described as sports and equity leaders to share their expert perspective on how things have changed over the years, where we are today, and how improvement can continue to ensure the original goals set out 50 years ago are achieved.
