Kevin Maritato, Instructor, Math and Data Science and Social Justice Fellow graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics. As part of the latter degree, he wrote a thesis exploring the causes for the gender enrollment gap in STEM fields and potential ways to address it. He later completed a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, with a concentration in Quantitative Finance, and is currently finishing an Applied Mathematics PhD at Stony Brook, with his dissertation on Optimization Approaches in Risk Management. Before joining SUNY Old Westbury, Professor Maritato has taught at Suffolk County Community College, LIU Post, SUNY Farmingdale, and served as an assistant professor and program coordinator for statistics and data science at Housatonic Community College in Connecticut.
