Dr. Gama Fagundes has been an elementary school teacher in the NYC public school system for 23 years. In addition, Dr. Gama Fagundes has been an adjunct assistant professor for the City University of New York (CUNY) since 2014, where she teaches various undergraduate and graduate education courses to prepare pre-service and in-service teachers with the appropriate knowledge to better serve students, their families, and diverse communities. Dr. Gama Fagundes has presented nationally at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) conferences on topics such as, the writing evolution of first graders, formative assessments, and whole language instruction.
