RE:          Spring 2023 COVID-19 Guidance

Good morning to all in our SUNY Old Westbury community,

Thank you to all who have participated in the campus' efforts across our Fall semester to maintain the safety of our campus as COVID-19 continues to impact our lives, now alongside the effects of flu and, for little ones, RSV.

Now it's time to look ahead. The Spring 2023 guidance related to COVID-19 is available on the College's COVID Guidance website. Much of the plan for the new semester remains the same as it does late in this one. Highlights of the spring guidance include:

  • Students with an on-campus presence this spring must be vaccinated against COVID-19, with limited exceptions. Those students who presented evidence of vaccination previously do not need to re-submit. While boosters are not required, all are urged to stay updated with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters and students are encouraged to present updated information to the Student Health Center related to boosters, etc.
  • COVID-19 testing will no longer be required of any constituency on campus.
  • Masks will continue to be optional on campus, except in those instances outlined in the guidance.

Please visit the COVID-19 Guidance website to familiarize yourself with our plan for spring.

As the current rise in cases of COVID-19 along with other viruses shows us, we are not out of this situation yet. Therefore, policies and practices relating to COVID-19 are subject to change at any time, depending on the public health conditions of our immediate area and external guidance we may receive from state, county or SUNY officials. If any element of our guidance changes (i.e., masking, boosters, surveillance testing, etc.), it will be clearly communicated.

I offer all my best to the entire campus community as we together complete the fall semester, and the happiest of wishes to all for the coming year.

Thank you.

Tim
