RE:          Appointment of Vice President for Student Affairs

Dear Campus Community,

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Randall M-J Edouard will serve as the next Vice President for Student Affairs at SUNY Old Westbury. Dr. Edouard will arrive on campus to begin his tenure on April 27, 2023.

Dr. Edouard is a skilled Student Affairs leader with extensive experience within the SUNY system. Dr. Edouard most recently served as assistant vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students at Binghamton University. In addition to this role, he was chair of the Town-Gown Advisory Board where he worked on policies, procedures and programs to improve relations between the city, University and the community.  He also served as assistant vice provost and director of Admissions and director of the Educational Opportunity Program and divisional diversity officer for Student Affairs at Binghamton University.

Over the course of his career in Student Affairs, Dr. Edouard served as assistant director, instructional coordinator, counselor, and advisor within the Educational Opportunity Program at Stony Brook University and as assistant dean and director of development studies at New Opportunities at Hofstra (NOAH) and HEOP at Hofstra University.

Dr. Edouard’s teaching experience includes seminars and courses on Health Studies, Leadership, Personal Success, African American Transformational Leadership, English Literature: Literary Analysis and Critical Reasoning, English Grammar and Syntax: Foundations of Academic Writing, and First Year Seminars among others.

He has been recognized for his contributions to higher education, receiving an Outstanding Leadership Award, an Outstanding Community Commitment Award, and was a NASPA Silver Honoree for Violence Education, Crisis Management, and Campus Security.

Dr. Edouard earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in English and a Master’s of Science in Foundations of Educational Administration and Policy from Hofstra University and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Theory, Research and Practice from Binghamton University.

Across his career and life, Dr. Edouard has exhibited his commitment to social justice, diversity and equity – aligning well  with the mission and values of SUNY Old Westbury.  He is excited to bring to our campus his experience with Residential College Models where he worked hands on with students to integrate the students’ academic, personal development and the ability to navigate resources and self-actualize their success.

Please help me welcome him to Old Westbury when he arrives later this month.
