About the Speaker 

Ruschell Boone is an award-winning Reporter, Anchor, and Talk Show Host at NY1 News. In 2016, she made City & State’s top 50 list as one of the most influential people in Queens.  Ruschell joined the station in 2002 and has covered a number of major news stories including the 2016 bombing in Manhattan, the 2016 Presidential Election, the growing homeless problem in NYC and the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.  In 2014, she received the award for Best Spot News Reporting from the New York Association of Black Journalists. In 2013, she won the New York Press Club’s award for Best Feature Reporting. Prior to NY1, Ruschell worked as a News Associate for CNBC where she produced news updates and wrote for several shows. She went on to CNN, where she worked as an Associate Producer and Assignment Editor. Ruschell is a native of Kingston, Jamaica. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Baruch College.
