The 38th edition of LIMAÇON, the Long Island Mathematics Conference, will welcome mathematics educators and students from across the region to campus to learn and discuss under the theme "Number Sense & Sensibility: 2 Memorize or Not to Memorize, that is the Question."

Along with 42 presentations across the day on topics from "Is Math Really Real?" and "Culturally Relevant Math" to "Regression and Rubber Chickens" to "Remove Angst from Algebra," the conference will also feature a keynote address by Kevin Dykema, president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Those attending LIMAÇON can earn CTLE credit.

The cost of the conference is $65 for members of ATMNYC, NCAMS, or NCMTA; $75 for nonmembers and $30 for full-time students. There will be an additional $10 additional fee for those who register on the day of the conference. Online registration for the event is open until March 13, 2024.

LIMAÇON is presented by The Long Island Mathematics Conference Board, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting students interesting in pursuing courses of study in math and the professional development of math instructors, and the Institute of Merit at SUNY Old Westbury.  The event was founded by the late Dr. Jong Pil Lee, a distinguished service professor of mathematics and member of the faculty at SUNY Old Westbury from 1973 until his passing in 2011. The day's events will also feature the presentation of the Jong Pil Lee Scholarship.
