January 14: Effect of Yellow Status on Classroom Instruction for first Two Weeks of Spring 2022

This message was sent to all students.

The previously announced move to Yellow status for the campus between January 26, 2022, and February 9, 2022 (the first two weeks of the spring semester), will affect course instruction during that timeframe in the following ways:

  • On Campus courses: These courses represent our more traditional face-to-face instruction. Under the yellow level guidance, faculty are being encouraged to use mixed methods of instruction to ensure that the weekly density does not exceed 50% (flex, hybrid, blended, one-half the class meeting during each class period).  Where hybrid/blended instruction is chosen the on-campus meeting time and day will follow a schedule used  for midterm and final examinations. See the schedule available for use

  • Hybrid/Blended courses: Hybrid and Blended courses are unaffected by the yellow level guidance to the extent that they meet once per week on campus.
  • Online courses: These courses represent our traditional (asynchronous) net courses.  These courses are unaffected by the yellow level status.

  • Remote courses: These courses represent our remote (synchronous) internet courses.  These courses are unaffected by the yellow level status.

Please be sure to check your courses in Blackboard and review your course syllabi closely as to how your coursework will be delivered during this period and be in contact with your faculty members with questions and for specific directions. Faculty who are changing the time or modality of their classes have been asked to post this information to each course's respective Blackboard shell no later than January 24.

Our time in Yellow Status is expected to end on February 9, 2022, with a return to previously planned instructional modalities and scheduling on February 10.  Should a change in that schedule be required, it will be announced no later than February 1.

Thank you.
