Focusing on Black communities in the United States, this project is a systematic review of the health consequences of police violence. Findings from the empirical literature are also placed into context, drawing from the work of historians. I will close with a discussion of strategies to interrupt the process through which state violence harms Black lives, including community organizing and social movements.
