Tips on SUNY General Education Requirements for All Transfer Students

  • Courses that satisfy a General Education domain at another SUNY school will automatically satisfy that domain at Old Westbury. Note, however, that Old Westbury’s Math and Basic Communications proficiency requirements have specific additional requirements. 

  • Courses that transfer in as equivalent to courses offered at Old Westbury will receive the SUNY General Education credit given to that OW course.

  • If you think a course you have taken at a previous institutions fits the requirements of a SUNY General Education area please contact either the Office of the Registrar (registrar@oldwestbury.edu). You will be expected to provide a course description and the syllabus for the course in order for your request for SUNY General Education credit to be considered.

Tips on SUNY General Education Requirements for Transfer Students with an AA or AS from a SUNY or CUNY Institution (Spring 2015 entry or after)

  • Students transferring to Old Westbury with an AA or AS from a SUNY or CUNY institution will not have to complete any additional General Education requirements at Old Westbury.

  • Students with AA or AS degrees must provide an official transcript which shows their degree conferral and conferral date.
