The Old Westbury Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Center recently held a “warming party” to open their new campus location. The Center has been incorporated into the Social and Environmental Justice Institute in Woodlands Hall 1. Formerly known as “the Women’s Center,” this new space will be used for programming and community building, and is open to all.

“Students recognize the importance of applying and grappling with issues of gender and sexuality outside of the classroom – and the value of spaces where they can connect and learn with others who are doing the same,” said Dr. Jillian Crocker, Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program & Center and Associate Professor of Sociology. "WGSS faculty, and supporters around campus, are deeply invested in supporting that work, and empowering those who take it on."

The WGSS Center is a safe space where trained interns can help direct those in need to appropriate services on and off campus. Additionally, the Center develops digital and community outreach campaigns on issues such as feminism, women’s health, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and organizes events and programming that address gender and sexuality in multiple contexts.
