Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL)

The Teaching, Learning and Resource Committee (TLRC) is the advisory body for CETL.

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is committed to student academic engagement and pedagogies that foster learning and success.  CETL supports the professional development of students, faculty and staff and promotes teaching practices and strategies to advance the college’s mission.

Fall 2020 Instruction

Begin here to review materials and support for distance instruction.  CETL has compiled OW and SUNY resource that can assist the novice and the expert with their fall 2020 instructional design and implementation.

Faculty Resources

Two organization have been set up in Blackbaord to assist faculty with the transition and advancement of the college's distance instruction.  One is a specific hub of Old Westbury Instructional Design materials for the mechanics and pedagogy as a course is converted from traditional to online.  The other is a curated list of SUNY, Old Westbury and other resources addressing technology, pedagogy, best practices and types of instruction.

Events and Programs

During the academic year, CETL will host events and programs to engage faculty and staff in pedalogical and professional development.  Programming will be topical to reflect current issues in teaching, learning, our campus and society.
