SUNY Old Westbury Announces Administrative Promotions

SUNY Old Westbury President Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, has announced promotions and new roles for several administrators at the College.

“I am pleased to announce today updates to the campus administrative team as we move forward with the 2018-19 academic year,” said President Butts. “Each of the members of the SUNY Old Westbury team discussed here play important roles on our campus as it continues to progress and improve.”

  • Dr. Wayne Edwards has been named vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the Old Westbury College Foundation, Inc. Prior to this position, Edwards served the College as Vice President for Student Affairs & Chief Diversity Officer. Edwards, a resident of New York City, earned his Doctorate in Philosophy from the CUNY Graduate School and University Center.
  • Mr. Michael Kinane is now vice president for communications and chief communications officer. Kinane moved from his previous role as Assistant to the President for Advancement. Kinane, from Smithtown, N.Y., holds a Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications from Marist College.
  • Mr. Usama Shaikh has been named vice president for student affairs and chief diversity officer. His previous roles at the College include serving as assistant vice president for student affairs and director of residential life. Shaikh lives in Kew Gardens, N.Y., and is a doctoral candidate in Fordham University’s Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy program.
