College Connections Honored at '30 under 30' Awards Program

Perlson Receives Award

An alumnus and a current member of the SUNY Old Westbury staff were among the 30 local professionals honored recently in the Long Island Business News “30 Under 30” awards program.

According the publication, the awards program seeks to recognize those professionals who early in their careers have made great strides in their respective fields while also exhibiting a commitment to serving Long Island.

Benjamin Perlson, a 2016 graduate of the College’s Master of Science in Taxation program, is a staff accountant at Perlson LLP, an accounting and advising firm located in North Massapequa, New York.  Along with lauding him for the services provided to his clients, Long Island Business News cited his charitable works with such organizations as the Bnai Brith Perlman Camp, Solomon Schechter of Long Island, and the Jericho Jewish Center.

Danielle Collins, assistant director of communications for SUNY Old Westbury, was featured for her work in developing and managing the College’s social media programs, internal and media relations efforts, and other key strategic communications initiatives for Old Westbury. She also was recognized for her service to the community, which includes being a member of the Long Island Association Young Professionals Committee and volunteering support America’s VetDogs, a not-for-profit organization that trains and places guide and service dogs to provide independence, enhanced mobility, and companionship to veterans and first responders with disabilities.

The awards were presented by Long Island Business News, Long Island’s only publication devoted to local commerce and has been the premier source of news and data on business, economic trends and the region’s robust entrepreneurial sector for more than 60 years.
