A discussion of how young people in the metropolitan New York area feel about race relations and the solutions they believe can be applied in times of racial conflict was the focus as students from SUNY Old Westbury attended and participated in "Race Relations 101: What Young People Think About Race Relations," a recent Facebook Live broadcast conducted by news radio station 1010 WINS-AM.

College President Calvin O. Butts, III, and Media & Communications major Rayshawn Ogboe were featured in the 70-minute panel discussion led by 1010 WINS News Reporter Larry Mullins.  Ogboe was present alongside students from Kingsborough Community College and City College of New York.  Attending as members of the broadcast's live audience were Old Westbury students Cheyanne Bray, Taylor DiGiacomo, Christina Hussey, Nikki Kallipozis, Arrielle Mancebo, Sheel Shah, Vanessa Valerio, Michelle Weinfurt and Meghan Wing.

An archived video of the broadcast can be viewed on the 1010 WINS Facebook page.

Old Westbury's participation in the event was made possible by Ben Mevorach, program and news director of 1010 WINS who teaches as an adjunct professor in the SUNY Old Westbury Media & Communications program.  The broadcast was supported throughout the week prior with promotional ads appearing on 1010 WINS radio, digital and social media platforms.  Following the broadcast, Mevorach took the students on a tour of the CBS New York radio studios, home to six radio stations serving the metropolitan New York area.
