Four students from SUNY Old Westbury's accounting program published their research in The CPA Journal, the monthly magazine of the New York State Society of CPAs.  Through their work, described in the article "Developing a Student Community of Learning: Expanding Knowledge Using the Techinical Committee Model," the students sought to strengthen their analytical skills and understanding of data analytics, and how it relates to the accounting profession through professional continuing education opportunities.

Keith E. Arnott, Hugh A. McNeill, Courtney L. Paterson, and Nicholas Prahalis -- with mentorship and guidance from Visiting Assistant Professor and Joel Lanz, penned the article after having conducted the AICPA's data analyst certificate program, and utilized the NYSSCPA's technical committee structure to expand knowledge among their community of interest of other students in the accounting programs.
