To increase awareness about the importance of cancer screening, SUNY Old Westbury's Institute of Cancer Research and Education, and Departments of Biological Sciences and Chemistry & Physics are proudly hosting a community awareness exhibit on early screenings for cancer. Cancer is not a rare disease. The good news is that it can often be found early in its development, through simple, painless, and quick screenings. Know your risks and how to prevent onset of cancer.
Free Prostate Cancer screenings will be done on site at the event. Participants include the Nassau University Medical Center, Integrated Medical Foundation, and Northwell Health.
Who should get screened for Prostate Cancer? Every male adult. With early detection, survival rates are high and the side effects are from treatment are at their lowest. Early screenings of cancers such as cervical, skin, prostate, colon and breast examinations and oral cancer are an effective means of finding cancer at its early, highly curable stages. Make them part of your annual health check-ups.
