Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Event date:

Friday, February 22, 2019 - 12:00pm

Multipurpose Rooms, Student Union

Members of the campus and local community are invited to join together to mark the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service campaign.  For 2019, SUNY Old Westbury has committed to making fleece blankets for Project Linus, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to aiding ill and traumatized children in the community.

With chapters in all 50 states, Project Linus collects blankets locally and distributes them to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.

To learn more about the 2019 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, contact Jamie Jones, associate director of the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement.

The program is a part of the Leadership Development Certificate Program and open to all students.

The LDCP is a college-wide program that is open to all majors and all class years.
