Come view a demonstration of Gatka, Sikh martial arts associated with the Punjab region of India. Gakta was initially created by the Sikh gurus and has now become a world-wide sport. It includes a style of fighting with wooden sticks, swords and other tools towards defending righteousness and developing self-control. Practitioners have an understanding of its ancient roots that are tied to Sikh philosophy. Sikh’s dedicate a lifetime of being of service to others. The Five K’s, traditional costume with symbolic, spiritual meaning, will be worn and described to attendees. Students may participate towards end of demonstration! Come, learn and enjoy!
