New Students: To register for summer, students who have never attended SUNY Old Westbury must use the “Quick Admit” form found at the SUNY Old Westbury WEB site under Admissions, Non-Degree Programs or Academics, Winter/ Summer Programs.

FINANCIAL AID

Federal and State aid is available to students enrolled for six or more credits as a regular student in an eligible program. The types of assistance available to undergraduate students are Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Federal Pell Grant, and Federal Direct Loan. Graduate students are only eligible for loans. Federal regulations require students to complete the financial aid filing process and to prove financial need to be eligible for a Financial Aid award. Students must meet academic standards to be eligible for financial aid. For further details, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at financialaid@oldwestbury.edu or 516-876-3223. It is suggested that students start their process of filing financial aid paperwork for the summer in early March if possible.

GRADING POLICY

The grading system provides for 16 letter grades consisting of A,A-,B+,B,
B-,C+,C,C-,D+,D,D-,F, CR (credit)/NC (no credit), I (incomplete), W (withdrawal). All students who remain on the roster after the Add/Drop period receive one of these grades.

CREDIT/NO CREDIT OPTION:

If you wish to take a course on a credit/no credit basis, you must complete the "Request for Credit/No Credit" in the Portal by the deadline (June 25, 2021 for Session I; June 18, 2021 for Session II; July 23, 2021 for Session III; May 28, 2021 for Session IV; June 7, 2021 for Session 7A; and July 12, 2021 for Session 7B). If this procedure is not followed, a grade of credit or no credit will not be allowed at final grading. If this application is submitted by the date specified, the course must be graded as credit/no credit. A request for a letter grade (A-F) will not be accepted. A grade of CR/NC has no effect on the grade point average.

TRANSCRIPTS

Grades are available for viewing online at the Old Westbury secure student WEB site approximately two weeks after the last day of classes. If you intend to transfer credit to another institution, you should request an official transcript at CONNECT.OLDWESTBURY.EDU: click the “Academics” icon, and select “Request Transcript (Official).”

CAMPUS HOUSING

Note that availability of Campus Housing is uncertain. If it is available, continuing Old Westbury students interested in staying on campus during Summer 2021 must be engaged in some aspect of their education which necessitates living on campus.

Eligibility for housing is determined by:

1. Enrollment in (a) summer course(s) and/or research

-OR-

2. Participation in athletic, other organized College programs or employment in a

College Office, which requires remaining on campus

-AND-

3. Student must have a summer meal plan(s) appropriate for the length of time

-AND-

4. Student must be in good academic standing (cumulative Old Westbury GPA of

2.00 or higher)

-AND-

5. Student must be in good judicial standing

-AND-

6. Student is cleared with all appropriate College offices at the point of checking into the halls

Students who will be entering Old Westbury for the Fall 2021 semester and are interested in obtaining housing must complete an application with the Office of Residential Life. The Office of Residential Life is located in the Campus Center K-100. Our summer office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students seeking further information may visit the office or call (516) 876-3210.

Immunizations

Immunization requirements must be met prior to registration. All students must submit appropriate documentation verifying that they are in FULL compliance with the New York State immunization requirements listed below. Students who are NOT in full compliance ARE NOT allowed to register:

Immunization Record

New York State Public Health Law (Article 21, Title VI, Sections 2165 & 2167) require all enrolled college students born after January 1, 1957 to show proof of immunity against measles, mumps and rubella. In addition, proof of meningococcal vaccine within the last five (5) years or a signed declination/waiver is required.

These records are required upon entry to the College and are on file in the Student Health Center. For more information refer to NYS department of Health immunization requirements 

New York State Public Health Law (NYS PHL) § 2167 requires institutions, including colleges and universities, to distribute information about meningococcal disease and vaccine to all students meeting enrollment criteria, whether they live on or off campus. Vehicle Registration

All students who park on campus are required to register their vehicles. Students can purchase a parking permit through the online Parking Permit System. The cost is $16.00 for the first vehicle and $8.00 for each additional vehicle. Go to your CONNECT.OLDWESTBURY.EDU account, sign in, click on the Finances button, click on the Order Parking Permit button, and follow the instructions there to apply for your permit. All students who fail to register their vehicle/s will be subject to ticketing and may be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

A fifty percent refund is given for a withdrawal from June 21, 2021 to June 27, 2021. A thirty percent refund is given for a withdrawal from June 28, 2021 to July 4, 2021 and no refund thereafter. A grade of W is recorded for withdrawals, with an assessed processing charge of $20 per course. Students registered in any course cancelled by the institution will be entitled to a full refund of tuition and fees. A fee of $20 will be assessed for any check returned by the bank on which it is drawn.
