Academic Advisement

All academic advising will be conducted as distance appointments.  Please contact your academic advisor or faculty advisor in your department as detailed below:

  • School of Education: Please contact your faculty advisor or Rheba Jules, julesr@oldwestbury.edu  to arrange a Distance Academic Advisement appointment.

Tutoring

Math Redesign Lab

The Math Redesign Lab will be distance tutoring via Microsoft Teams* for the rest of this semester for the following courses: Powertrack Math, College Algebra and Quantitative Decision Making. Hours: Mondays - Thursdays 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. & Sundays 12-5 p.m. Please email the Math Redesign Lab Coordinator, Betty Berbari, with any questions: berbarib@oldwestbury.edu.

Tutoring Center

The Tutoring Center will be offering distance tutoring in science, math, history, foreign language and social sciences through Microsoft Teams*. We are open Monday-Thursday. Course and tutor availability are posted on the Tutoring Schedule tab of Tutoring Center Team.  Please email the Tutoring Center Coordinator, Marisa Glaser, with any questions: glaserm@oldwestbury.edu.

Math Learning Center

The Math Learning Center provides tutoring in all math courses except MA1010, MA1020 and MA2050.  For the remainder of the semester,  tutoring will be provided through the Math Learning Center team on Microsoft Teams*. Hours are posted on the Tutoring Schedule tab of the Math Learning  Center Team. Please email the Director, Dr. Meryl Altabet, with any questions: altabetm@oldwestbury.edu.

*Microsoft Teams can be accessed through your Outlook email on a laptop/tablet using connect.oldwestbury.edu or the Microsoft Teams app which you can download to your smartphone.

Writing Center

The Writing Center will continue to assist students through online tutoring for the remainder of the semester.  Students can reserve an appointment for an online session through our online scheduling system. Our hours are Mondays and Tuesdays, 11a.m.-8 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.  Please email the Director, Dr. Jody Cardinal, with any questions: cardinalj@oldwestbury.edu

Smarthinking

Tutoring is offered through Pearson/Smarthinking's online tutoring services.  The tutoring is on topics in Mathematics, the Sciences, Business, Spanish, and using MS Office.  Smarthinking can be accessed through the home page of Blackboard.  Please email the Tutoring Center Coordinator, Marisa Glaser, with any questions: glaserm@oldwestbury.edu.

Student Development Services

Career Planning & Development

The Office of Career Planning & Development will be offering services remotely until further notice between 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Virtual or phone appointments can be made by email to marinanj@oldwestbury.edu. A complete description of services and resources is available on the Office of Career Planning & Development website. 

Counseling and Psychological Services

Students can call the Office of Counseling and Psychological Wellness at 516-876-3053 or email counselors to arrange for a phone or video-chat appointments. 

Services for Students with Disabilities

The Office of Servicces for Students with Disabilities will be offering services remotely until further notice. All staff can be contacted via email to schedule virtual or phone appointmments using Microsoft Teams.
