President's Welcome Welcome! I'm very excited that you are visiting our website to learn more about SUNY College at Old Westbury. With 3,300 students and 200 faculty members, ours is a small public college, but one with big ideals and impacts. Central to the effort of every professor and staff member at Old Westbury is helping our students prepare for the lives they want to lead and the careers they want to follow. Equally important, however, is our commitment to instilling in our students a passion for education and a dedication to improving the world we share. Academically, our College seeks students of high-quality and produces graduates ready to lead at work, in the community, and in life. Old Westbury students learn from a faculty of educators,. historians, scientists, journalists, sociologists, writers and artists recognized for the high quality of their teaching. What's more, they each are committed to the success of their students. Students here also have an array of extracurricular opportunities. More than 50 campus organizations give our students many outlets to develop and practice their leadership skills. And in doing so, they make friends for life. Further, our Department of Athletics offers opportunities ranging from Division III intercollegiate competition to recreational sports activities. We take great pride in the diversity of our student body. African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, and Native American students constitute about 50 percent of the student population. We also value socioeconomic and intellectual diversity and in doing so are committed to learning about and practicing the doctrine of democracy on which our nation was founded. Whether you are a prospective student, current student, alumnus, parent or friend of our College, this site was designed to help you discover Old Westbury. Take the pictorial tour of our campus.
