Schools The Old Westbury curriculum is carefully designed to enable students to compete in the global economy or to pursue further studies at the finest graduate and professional schools. Although all students focus on a major program of study, the College believes it is equally important for students to acquire a broad base of general knowledge and to develop strong analytical and creative skills. The core of academic study at the College is a general education program that provides students with a broad multidisciplinary liberal arts education that serves as the intellectual foundation for further education, career preparation, and participation in our increasingly complex society. General education offerings are structured into seven domains (basic communication, creativity and the arts, the western tradition, the American experience, major cultures, foreign languages, natural sciences and mathematics) and three knowledge areas (humanities, social science, diversity). Through three schools (Arts & Sciences, Business, and Education), Old Westbury offers 45 undergraduate degrees programs enabling students to earn Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Professional Studies degrees. The School of Business is also home to the College's Master of Science degree program in Accounting.
