General Education The core of academic study at the College is a general education program that provides students with a broad multidisciplinary liberal arts education that serves as the intellectual foundation for further education, career preparation, and participation in our increasingly complex society. Old Westbury's general education program was developed to meet SUNY-wide requirements while maintaining the College's commitment to diversity, interdisciplinary education, and critical inquiry. It includes courses in seven domains (basic communication, creativity and the arts, the western tradition, the American experience, major cultures, foreign languages, and natural sciences ) three knowledge areas (humanities, social science, diversity) and mathematics proficiency. You can use the buttons below to consult the General Education Bulletin for a full description and requirements necessary to satisfy the domains, knowledge areas and mathematical proficiency. A master Course List is also available to assist your in your planning.
